Into December

 Platform Completion

A headache of a task with much more to be done. Moving on to the next phase of this project. Need to order at least 400 3" blocks, 20 sacks of cement and about 20 steel. Aiming to have this construction done before Xmas break is over.

Rental Backwall

Proposed area for backwall at the lower levels. Currently,  water flow channels directly onto the building.

 Gravel needed for backwall construction.

Bits & Pieces

Laundry

A lifetime ago, the thought of doing laundry filled me with deep dread. What a welcome change that it has now become one of my most relaxing experiences. An escape from days of endless business.

There is just something soothing and rewarding. Perhaps its the scents and sight of cleanliness. Perhaps its looking at empty laundry baskets waiting to be refilled.

Nothing beats Saturday mornings..............

Early Mornings

I have long gained great respect for 5:00-5:30am time period.

Awaking, setting up my to-do-list to later crossing off all things that have been accomplished begins here.

These hours... these hours.... I would love to sleep the morning away, inching perhaps for another 15 minutes of nothingness. Bur alas the day awaits with it demands, its decisions and its reflections.

FLOW Outage

Yesterday the outage to FlOW System brought to a standstill the delivery of Online teaching and learning within SVG.

within the first hour or so all stakeholders involved were frantically trying to figure what was going on. At home, I kept resetting as I initially thought it was an issue on my end and in my area.

The system was thought to back up at around midday, yet sporadic outage endured throughout the day.

Updates

 Volcanic Eruption 2021

Three months plus has passed since the recent eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano. Looking back, my emotions were mixed. I wanted the lived experience. yet the displacement of so many made for a sobering reality.

As I delved into shelter duties, which at times so overwhelmed, it was a call of duty which I willingly undertook. It became about the people and giving them "room to breathe" and a sense of 'normalcy' despite the chaos.

I saw human nature at its lowest and at its highest levels outside of my own selfish existence.

Flooding 2021

With the dust settled and La Soufriere returning to its inactive phase, raids led to flooding and landslides. Heavy rains aided the cleaning of the residues of the eruptions.

I wondered how much can my homeland endure. how much can my own psyche. Periods of restlessness, sleepless nights

Reopening of School

Amidst the havoc of returning to a normal existence after the volcanic eruptions, shelter duties and subsequent flooding, school was called into section. Blended learning was utilized in an effort to get students back on track.

Yet I endured, with closure so very near.
